Sorbonne University is a French university located in Paris . It was created on January 1, 2018 by bringing together the universities of Paris-Sorbonne (Paris-IV) and Pierre-et-Marie-Curie (Paris-VI), themselves created in 1970 and heirs to the University of Paris founded in 1896.

It is organized into three faculties, spread over 26 sites: the Faculty of Letters , the Faculty of Medicine , and the Faculty of Science and Engineering . In 2019 , Sorbonne University had 55,600 students, including 10,200 international students, and 6,700 researchers and teacher-researchers.
